Privacy Policy
What information this website collects, why, who it is shared with, and how to exercise your rights over it.
This Privacy Policy explains how [[BUSINESS_NAME]] (“Pairly”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use this website (the “Site”).
Effective date: August 11, 2026
The short version
- Pairly is a website you read. There are no user accounts, and we do not ask you to register.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Quiz answers are processed in your browser and are not sent to us.
- Analytics and advertising cookies only run after you consent to them.
- You can contact us at any time to ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted.
Information we collect
Information you give us voluntarily
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | You subscribe to the newsletter | To send you the newsletter |
| Name, email, subject, message | You use the contact form | To respond to your inquiry |
These are the only fields we ask for. We do not ask for your date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, relationship status, location, or any other personal detail, and you should not include sensitive personal information in a contact message.
Information collected automatically
When you visit any website, the server necessarily receives certain technical information. For the Site this includes:
- IP address (used for security, abuse prevention and approximate country-level analytics; not used to identify you personally)
- Browser type and version, operating system and device type
- Pages viewed, time of visit, and the page that referred you
- General geographic region derived from IP address
Information from cookies and similar technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar browser storage. These are described in detail in our Cookie Policy, and are grouped into three categories:
- Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function, including remembering your cookie choice. These are always active and do not require consent.
- Analytics — help us understand which articles are read and which are ignored. Only set if you consent.
- Advertising — used by advertising partners to select and measure ads. Only set if you consent.
Quiz responses
Quiz answers are processed entirely within your browser. Your selections are stored temporarily in your own browser’s session storage so you can go back to a previous question or resume if the page reloads. Individual quiz answers are not transmitted to our servers, are not linked to you, and are not sold or shared.
If you have consented to analytics, we may record that a quiz was started or completed, and which result category was shown, as an anonymous aggregate event. This tells us whether the quizzes are working; it does not tell us anything about you.
Information we do not collect
We do not knowingly collect: payment or financial information; government identification; precise geolocation; biometric data; or health information.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Operate, maintain and secure the Site
- Respond to inquiries you send us
- Send the newsletter, if you subscribed
- Understand which content is useful, in aggregate, so we can publish better content
- Display and measure advertising
- Detect, prevent and address abuse, spam, fraud and technical problems
- Comply with legal obligations
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are: consent (analytics cookies, advertising cookies, newsletter); legitimate interests (site security, abuse prevention, aggregate understanding of content performance); and legal obligation where applicable.
Advertising
The Site is supported by advertising. We work with third-party advertising networks that may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to select ads and measure their performance.
Depending on your consent, advertising partners may process: your IP address, device and browser information, pages viewed on this Site, and interactions with ads.
Advertising partners are independent controllers of the data they collect and their own privacy policies govern that processing. If you decline advertising cookies, you may still see advertisements, but they will not be personalised using these technologies.
You can find additional industry opt-out tools at optout.aboutads.info, youradchoices.com and youronlinechoices.eu.
Analytics
Subject to your consent, we use a third-party analytics service to understand aggregate use of the Site — which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and how long they stay. IP anonymisation is enabled where the service supports it. We use analytics to understand traffic in aggregate, not to build profiles of individuals.
Third-party services
Information may be processed by:
- Our web host, which necessarily processes server requests and logs
- Analytics providers, subject to your consent
- Advertising networks, subject to your consent
- Email delivery services, used to send newsletter and contact-form messages
- Our image provider (Unsplash). Photographs on this Site are delivered from
Unsplash’s content delivery network. This means your browser requests those
images directly from
images.unsplash.com, and that provider therefore receives your IP address, browser type and the page the image was requested from — the same technical information any server receives when it serves a file. This is necessary for the Site to display and does not set cookies on our behalf. See the Unsplash Privacy Policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the advertising cookies described above, to which you consent or do not.
Data retention
| Data | Retained for |
|---|---|
| Newsletter subscriptions | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it |
| Contact form messages | Up to 24 months after the matter is resolved |
| Server logs | Typically up to 12 months, per our host’s configuration |
| Analytics data | Per the analytics provider’s retention settings |
| Cookie consent record | Up to 12 months, then you are asked again |
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent at any time, including for cookies
- Data portability, where technically applicable
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights
California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. You may exercise these rights using the contact details below.
EEA and UK residents have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Managing cookies
You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time from our Cookie Policy page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Site working.
Most browsers support a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, and we treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out request where the law requires it.
Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
The Site is operated from and hosted in facilities that may be located outside your country. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including HTTPS across the whole Site. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
The Site links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them. Read their policies before providing them with information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the Last updated date at the top of this page, and where required by law we will seek fresh consent.
